CWENO Finite-Volume Interface Capturing Schemes for Multicomponent Flows Using Unstructured Meshes

Abstract In this paper we extend the application of unstructured high-order finite-volume central-weighted essentially non-oscillatory (CWENO) schemes to multicomponent flows using interface capturing paradigm. The developed method achieves accurate solution in smooth regions, while providing oscillation free solutions at discontinuous regions. are inherently compact sense that central stencils employed as possible, and directional reduced size, therefore simplifying their implementation. Several parameters influence performance investigated, such reconstruction variables order. is assessed under a series stringent test problems consisting various combinations gases liquids, compared against analytical solutions, computational experimental results available literature. obtained demonstrate robustness new for several applications, well limitations within present interface-capturing

Monotone finite volume schemes for diffusion equations on unstructured triangular and shape-regular polygonal meshes

We consider a nonlinear finite volume (FV) scheme for stationary diffusion equation. We prove that the scheme is monotone, i.e. it preserves positivity of analytical solutions on arbitrary triangular meshes for strongly anisotropic and heterogeneous full tensor coefficients.
